Barry Ferguson wasn’t smart enough to body swerve the derision that his column in Friday’s Daily Record attracted.

Claiming that Giovanni van Bronckhorst had sussed out Ange Postecoglou was one thing, adding that that Ibrox boss had plans B, C and D to fall back on was just ridiculous.

As soon as the article was published Celtic fans were quick to highlight it, where on earth was he getting that notion from, the evidence suggested nothing of the sort.

When it all went badly wrong for Ferguson on Saturday the joy of the Celtic support was multiplied. Their team had trounced their city rivals and exposed the nonsense of Ferguson ad his favourite newspaper.

If anyone had been sussed it was the former Alloa Athletic manager.

Rather than keep a low profile, let the fuss blow over with Champions League matches on the horizon Ferguson answered the call from the Record, explained why he was right all along and kept his foolishness in the headlines for another day or two!
