Ibrox ornament gets Scotland call up

Robbie McCrorie has been called up into the Scotland squad despite not having played a minute of competitive football in over a year.

With Ibrox team-mate Jon McLaughlin pulling out of the squad due to injury Steve Clarke has turned to the SFA’s favourite club for a replacement.

McCrorie, best known for being the brother of Murray Park starlet Ross, played two competitive matches last season, the last one being on August 29 but is now two injuries away from winning a full cap.

Craig Gordon and Motherwell’s Liam Kelly are the other goalkeepers in the squad for the double header against Ukraine, either side of facing Ireland at Hampden on Saturday.

The SFA have still to announce how they will honour the recent death of their patron The Queen. A minute of silence is expected before Wednesday’s match at Hampden which might be followed by the national anthem of God Save The King.
