Ange Postecoglou seems regularly bemused by the thoughts expressed by the Scottish media.
The Celtic boss has laid his stall out since completing his first transfer window a year ago with a team and squad with the emphasis on attack.
Full-backs tuck in to become central midfielders, wingers attack with aggression and midfielders push forward to support the sole striker.
There is mystery to it, the Celtic boss even has the ball-boys in on it with the rapid return to ensure that not a second is lost as his side pile the pressure on their opponents.
On Saturday Ally McCoist watched the hoops apply those tactics to devastating effect. It had been sign-posted in advance to Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his squad but still they failed to cope.
For reasons best known to himself the former Rangers boss is offering tactical tip to Postecoglou ahead of facing the champions of Europe.
Listening to his appearance on TalkSPORT, The Sun reports McCoist saying:
I do (think approach needs to change tonight). Ange is saying ‘we don’t change for anybody.’
When you are playing the holders and one of the best teams in the world, if you think your own game particularly at home is good enough to beat them by all means go ahead and do that.
By all means go ahead and do it. But surely. Surely, you’re going to realise and accept and understand they’re a completely different animal to anything you would play domestically.
McCoist was involved in two European ties as Rangers manager, losing to Malmo and Maribor. He won no domestic cup competitions, in the Challenge Cup his team lost to Queen of the South, Raith Rovers and Alloa Athletic.
The former Kilmarnock striker might be a wonderful pundit and commentator but winning the bottom two divisions in the Scottish game isn’t really much of a grounding to be offering tactic tips in the Champions League.
Ally “Who are these people?!” McCoist.
The ex-cheeky chappy with no shame or self-awareness.
The only tips super swally (done for drunk driving ,remember,) should be dishing out, is how to prune the roses, or which Autumn plants are which ! The gardener of the year needs to learn Celtic FC aren’t interested in anything that Monty Don’s understudy has to say in the slightest .
The con mans con man should be nowhere near any commentary.
Super swally did more than anyone to bust the old Rangers . Losing to Malmo and then proceeding to take cash off them hand over fist until he was finally shown the door for his abject failure in attempting to steer the new club back onto an even keel.
Shambles of a man . No shame whatsoever.
Take the sport out of the bigots. But it seems you can’t take the bigots out of the sport. Maybe Souness, McCoist, White etc all go down on their knees and beg for their jobs when nobody’s looking!
McCoist is in no position to give anyone tactical advice, he couldn’t get The Rangers out the first division.
McCoist giving advice to any manager is ludicrous the man couldn’t manage a fish supper !!!
Editor: I think he has managed a few fish/pie/sausage suppers in his time. More than a few.
