Incredible- Ally McCoist offers Ange Postecoglou top tactic tips!

Ange Postecoglou seems regularly bemused by the thoughts expressed by the Scottish media.

The Celtic boss has laid his stall out since completing his first transfer window a year ago with a team and squad with the emphasis on attack.

Full-backs tuck in to become central midfielders, wingers attack with aggression and midfielders push forward to support the sole striker.

There is mystery to it, the Celtic boss even has the ball-boys in on it with the rapid return to ensure that not a second is lost as his side pile the pressure on their opponents.

On Saturday Ally McCoist watched the hoops apply those tactics to devastating effect. It had been sign-posted in advance to Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his squad but still they failed to cope.

For reasons best known to himself the former Rangers boss is offering tactical tip to Postecoglou ahead of facing the champions of Europe.

Listening to his appearance on TalkSPORT, The Sun reports McCoist saying:

I do (think approach needs to change tonight). Ange is saying ‘we don’t change for anybody.’

When you are playing the holders and one of the best teams in the world, if you think your own game particularly at home is good enough to beat them by all means go ahead and do that.

By all means go ahead and do it. But surely. Surely, you’re going to realise and accept and understand they’re a completely different animal to anything you would play domestically.

McCoist was involved in two European ties as Rangers manager, losing to Malmo and Maribor. He won no domestic cup competitions, in the Challenge Cup his team lost to Queen of the South, Raith Rovers and Alloa Athletic.

The former Kilmarnock striker might be a wonderful pundit and commentator but winning the bottom two divisions in the Scottish game isn’t really much of a grounding to be offering tactic tips in the Champions League.
