Michael Stewart has held Liel Abada up as the role model for Ryan Kent.

The young Celtic scored twice in today’s Glasgow derby to take his goal tally for the keep to five. Kent has yet to get off the mark this season, last season he scored three goals with his last SPFL counter coming in December at home to St Johnstone.

Kent may have some tricks that catch the eye but in terms of goals, assists and overall contribution he was again shown up today by a 20-year-old opponent starting his second year in Scottish football.

Picking up on Stewart’s comments on Radio Scotland, the Sun reports the former Manchester United midfielder saying:

Talking about the difference between the teams, Ryan Kent has got a lot more technical ability than Liel Abada.

You look at Kent and think he is a wonderful player, but his end product is nothing compared to Abada’s.

Abada has scored two today, he is a constant threat and know how to hurt the opposition.

When you watch Ryan Kent, he does it in flashes, but he looks like a plyer to me that doesn’t know where to hurt the opposition and how he can affect the game.

It happens sometimes but not by design – it just happens for him. He is a player who doesn’t have an end product.

Today’s match was just the second Premiership match that Abada has started this season, in the other four Daizen Maeda was picked to partner with Jota on the wing.

Next up is the ultimate test with Real Madrid to be faced on Tuesday night.
