Ange Postecoglou was in confident mood last night as he dealt with three media interviews all looking to unpick his transfer plans.

On the final day of the summer 2021 window the Celtic boss got deals for Jota, Giorgos Giakoumakis and Cameron Carter-Vickers over the line as his shape and tactics began to take root. Celtic without that trio of players is virtually unthinkable.

The hoops boss has been in control of this window all along with a full strength squad going through pre-season training backed up by Aaron Mooy and Moritz Jenz arriving just before the start of the season.

Last night Sead Haksabanovic made a big impact coming off the bench at Ross County less than a week after joining from Rubin Kazan.

Discussing the possibility of signing Oliver Abildgaard from the Russian side The Scotsman reports:

That’s a name, definitely a name,” he said of a player from a club Celtic have already raided for Sead Haksabanovic and Carl Starfelt. “There have been a lot of names. There are 24 hours to go, there are still some outgoings we are working on as well. We’ll see how things fall.”

Abildgaard’s name surfaced on social media early on Wednesday morning with Rubin virtually broadcasting the fact that they are desperate to get players off their wage bill. As a defensive midfielder he would offer Postecoglou an alternative to Callum McGregor with the current midfielder emphasis mainly on the front foot.

The 26-year-old has two years left on his Rubin contract but as the crashing price of Haksabanovic demonstrated deals can be done.
