Rubin have their say over complex Celtic deal

Transfer

Rubin Kazan have announced Oliver Abildgaard’s move to Celtic as a one year loan.

There has been some confusion since Celtic announced the deal for the midfielder which was subject to international clearance.

Earlier this year FIFA announced special regulations allowing players to leave Russian clubs with the deal for Sead Haksabanovic a traditional transfer on a five year contract with a fee reported to be in the region of £1.7-2m.

Abildgaard’s move seemed to be negotiated throughout Thursday with the announcement coming from Celtic in the final hour of the window.

Football clubs Rubin and Celtic have reached an agreement on a one-year loan to the Scottish club for 26-year-old midfielder Oliver Abildgaard. After the lease expires, the Dane will have 1 year of contract with Rubin. Thanks Oliver!

With two years left on his Rubin contract Abildgaard is close to a very lucrative position where he can leave as a free agent.

A year playing for Celtic with little prospect of a change in the status of Russian football, where Rubin are now playing in the second tier works out in the midfielders favour.

For now contract issues can go on the back burner as Abildgaard looks to get upto fitness and make his mark in a very competitive Celtic squad.

Last season’s Celtic loan deals for Jota, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Daizen Maeda all included options to buy.
