Scott Arfield’s international ID takes another unexpected twist

Scott Arfield’s latest international flip appears to have converted him into a Northern Ireland fan.
The Livingston born midfielder played for Scotland at u-19, u-21 and B team level but even during the worst days in Scotland’s international history he couldn’t get a full cap for the country that he was born in. Arfield won 17 Scotland u-21 caps over a three year period.
Guys like Graham Dorrans, Craig Bryson, Barry Bannon and James Morrison were routinely capped before Arfield decided to become Canadian.
Picking up 17 caps between 2016 and 2019 his international retirement coincided with the Canadian squad reaching the World Cup Finals in Qatar, appearing in the finals for the first time since 1986.

Over the weekend Arfield dropped in on Windsor Park, it is a familiar path, one which Andy Goram and Nacho Novo enjoyed to the full.
Wee Scotty is under contract until the end of this season with Livingston boss David Martidale a big fan.
