Callum McGregor is literally the first name on the team sheet, whether for Celtic or Scotland.

The midfielder has clocked up some incredible stats over the last five years, playing in almost every available match with his summer ‘break’ generally cut down to around a fortnight as June internationals run close towards pre-season training.

Already this season McGregor has started all 10 Celtic matches under Ange Postecoglou with Steve Clarke similarly reliant on the 29-year-old.

While others are falling out of the international squad, to such an extent that Hearts duo Stephen Kingsley and Barrie McKay were called up, McGregor is preparing for tomorrow’s match in Poland, his third cap in a week, in a business as usual manner.

Covering an interview with McGregor, the Daily Record reports:

After two gruelling affairs and more injury problems, Clarke will have to assess his team. McGregor, though, looks a certain starter. He laughed when it was put to him that it’d be unusual not to play a third game in a week given the durability he’s shown over the last five years.

He said: “That would be a shock to the system! I play 70 matches a season!”

The match in Krakow is the third successive midweek that McGregor will have faced Ukrainian opponents, back on Celtic duty he will then face RB Leipzig in successive midweeks as part of the 13 match programme between October 1 and November 12.
