Turning 37 on Friday there isn’t much that Luka Modric hasn’t experienced in the game.

A decade at Real Madrid and 152 international caps has covered multiple Champions League campaigns as well as the final of the 2018 World Cup.

Last night he got to sample Celtic Park for the first time, ultimately it was a successful trip but the first 45 minutes and the interaction between the home supporters and players left their mark on the Croatian internationalist.

Being up against technicians like Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate and Matt O’Riley meant that Modric wasn’t being tailed and stifled by a spoiler.

Last night’s results put the group into a very interesting place with two away wins to kick things off.

Real have four more matches before Celtic travel to the Bernabeu in November, the hope will be that they take full points to have qualification wrapped up before the two teams meet again.

Ange Postecoglou’s side face a very difficult trip to Warsaw next week to take on Shakhtar Donetsk who pulled off a shock by winning 4-1 away to RB Leipzig.
