Reported Celtic transfer target Oscar Gloukh could be sold in January.

Celtic have a decade long record of signing players from Israel with the Maccabi Tel Aviv playmaker catching the eye last summer at the u-19 European Championships.

Gloukh’s goal in the final wasn’t enough to prevent Israel from losing 3-1 but it did earn him the Goal of the Tournament award with all of the major clubs in Europe scouting the competition.

Celtic can highlight the rapid development of Liel Abada if they get down to negotiating with the 18-year-old with the Daily Record reporting Macabbi owner Mitchell Goldhar bracing himself for an exit.

Gloukh is one of the best players who grew up here in our academy. He has abilities that remind us of the greatest of them all. He will continue with us a little longer. Maybe in January or at most in the summer he will progress.

With his contract expiring in May 2024 it seems that Macabbi are inviting bids rather than allow the player and his agent to dictate his departure from the Israeli league.

Ange Postecoglou’s successful rebuild of the Celtic squad will almost certainly result in big offers coming in for some of his players over the next two windows.

Getting maximum value for those players is important but on the playing side identifying replacements capable of slotting in is critical with Gloukh, an attacking midfielder, having the Abada example to draw on with the winger a teenage signing for Celtic last July.
