Besiktas Sporting Director Ceyhun Kazanci has admitted that Ridvan Yilmaz left his club too early.

With a club record fee coming in for Calvin Bassey transfer guru Ross Wilson turned to Turkey for a replacement that bears no resemblance to the former Leicester City defender.

From the first clips of Yilmaz training with Giovanni van Bronckhorst he looked to be a fish out of water with the Dutchman far from convinced by the £5.5m signing. When Borna Barisic is keeping you out of the team it is time to take stock.

With one start in the SPFL, one in the League Cup and no Champions League minutes the move hasn’t worked out for Yilmaz but he is back in Turkey on Nations League duty.

Picking up on an interview with Haber Turk, the Daily Record reports Kazai saying:

We said it was too early for Ridvan Yilmaz, Serdar Saatç? and Emirhan ?lkhan to go to Europe. I think they could have stayed another year. We allow players to go if they already have dreams. Hopefully they will be very successful in the end.

With a heavy schedule of 13 matches between October 1 and November 12 it looks like van Bronckhorst will have to play Yilmaz at some stage with Barisic unlikely to be able to cope with that schedule.
