Liam McGrandles made a return trip to Celtic Park on Saturday to warm the fans up ahead of the Glasgow derby.

Before the SPFL opener and the unfurling of the Premiership flag he had the supporters in the mood as he sang Grace in front of the Jock Stein Stand.

The Fields of Athenry was chosen for Saturday with the supporters responding instantly in the final minutes before the big kick-off.

Despite the early loss of Kyogo Furuhashi to a shoulder injury Ange Potecoglou’s side were flying from the start, taking the lead in the eighth minute from Liel Abada.

Two more goals before the interval set the scene perfectly with the half-time celebrations fuelled by expectations of more to follow.

The fans in the Jock Stein Stand had to wait until the 82nd minute for a goal but it was well worthwhile when Jon McLaughlin presented David Turnbull with the simplest of chances.

Real Madrid are next up for Celtic followed by Livingston on Saturday with McGradles certain of a few return appearances in the weeks ahead.
