Watch the despairing video from The Scotsman as Celtic turn on the style

Alan Pattullo of the Scotsman seemed in a state of utter despair as he shared his thoughts on Celtic’s 4-0 Derby Day Demolition.

That phrase may not suit the ailing Edinburgh based broadsheet that has watched print circulation figures dip below 10,000 despite the pretence of being a national newspaper.

With sales and advertising revenue crashing through the floor their old school reporters are trying to get with it on social media. Exerting the personality behind those bland by-line pictures which can often be a decade or more out of date.

Colleague Andrew Smith was barely able to get a word in but misery was painted all over Pattullo’s face as he put on his best Rev IM Jolly face to address the nation. It seemed like a throwback to Dick Donnelly giving his verdict on an other drab, dreich draw at Dens Park to Radio Clyde listeners.

Highlighting his own lack of understanding Pattullo had a particularly miserable view of Joe Hart’s performance. Far from being saved by the whistle of Nick Walsh the referee applied the laws of the game as the Canadian star intercepted a goal kick inside the 18 yard box. It seems that Arfield is as clueless as the reporter from The Scotsman.
