Absolutely shocking, he wasn’t trying, unacceptable- Neil McCann gets tore into Ibrox flop

Malik Tillman came in for some unlikely criticism last night as the Bayern Munich starlet flopped in the Champions League spotlight against Liverpool.

After leaving out all seven of his summer signings from the 3-0 home defeat from Napoli, Giovanni van Bronckhorst included Tillman and Ben Davies in his side to park the bus at Anfield.

Barely getting out of third gear Liverpool cruised to a 2-0 victory despite their visitors playing with a back five bolstered by two defensive midfielders.

The nominal attacking players barely got a look in but picking up on his comments on Radio Scotland, The Sun reports McCann saying:

I thought Morelos worked really hard, feeding off scraps. I thought Kent was poor and Tillman at times was shocking, absolutely.

I can forgive him for having bad touches, I can forgive him for making wrong decisions or passes but I can’t forgive him for not trying. At times tonight it looked like he wasn’t trying.

He has shown that already this season. I said he could be one of the players of the season and I think he has ability to show he is a top player but you can’t just walk around the park and turn it on when you feel like it. That is unacceptable.

After seven years on the outside at Ibrox BBC Scotland are likely to rest McCann from their team covering Liverpool’s visit to Ibrox next week.
