Alfredo Morelos has been labeled fat live on Italian TV.

The Ibrox striker was a figure of fun in midweek as he sweated his way through the 3-0 Champions League defeat from Napoli.

After missing a 67th minute open goal Giovanni van Bronckhorst spared Morelos any more ridicule when he sent on Antonio Colak to run about for 20 minutes.

With just two goals this season Morelos could be on his way back to Colombia when his contract expires in May, it is unlikely that any Serie A clubs will be chasing him after a brutal put down by former Italian internationalist Sebastiano Nela.

Unlike the nodding dogs of BBC Scotland Italian pundits give out strong opinions with the Daily Record picking up on the post match coverage to Napoli’s stroll in the park

Nela – who is in the Roma Hall of Fame and played for Italy at the 1986 World Cup Finals and is now a respected TV pundit in his homeland – was far from impressed at Morelos’ condition. He compared him extremely unflatteringly to his international countryman, Atalanta and Colombia striker Luis Muriel.

Nela said: “I watched Napoli play against Rangers the other night. Rangers played with a centre forward called Morelos who looked like a fattened Luis Muriel. It was like watching Muriel with an extra 18 kilogrammes.”

Nela, who also played for Napoli reckons Morelos’ current physique didn’t help him when he was up against South Korea defender Kim Min-jae. He said: “It was like watching a match with a satellite delay – Kim was five seconds ahead of him everywhere. He reads the game superbly and he really impressed me.”

With Kemar Roofe again out injured van Bronckhorst has no option other than to use Morelos in the five matches upto the World Cup break.
