Andy Halliday looks like missing Saturday’s match against Celtic as Robbie Neilson’s injury list grows by the game.

The former Livingston and Bradford star lasted less than 10 minutes of yesterday’s defeat at Aberdeen as Hearts dismal run of results continued.

Playing in the Europa Conference has stretched the Tynecastle squad to breaking point with three wins and nine defeats in their last 13 matches.

Robbie Neilson’s side have a free midweek after losing at home to Kilmarnock in the League Cup with Saturday’s visit from Celtic followed by a Europa Conference match at home to Riga Futbol Skola.

Asked about Halliday’s injury at Pittodrie, Neilson told Edinburgh Live:

The boy came down the back of his (Halliday) Achilles and that was him done.

Liam Boyce is out with a long term injury with Craig Halkett, Michael Smith and Peter Haring all currently injured with defenders thin on the ground.

Celtic lost their opening match of last season at Tynecastle but since then have won five on the bounce with Giorgos Giakoumakis and Reo Hatate scoring in their 2-1 win over at Tynecastle in January.
