Anthony Joseph called for perspective as Celtic supporters digested last night’s 3-1 defeat from RB Leipzig.

A month earlier there was almost a mood of celebration as Celtic lost 3-0 at home to Real Madrid but the mood on Twitter was very different after the defeat in Germany.

Central to the frustrations was the mistake from Joe Hart that gifted the lead to RB Leipzig. Over the course of three minutes Leipzig had ‘gone in front’ saw that goal disallowed by VAR then netted again with a goal that deflated everyone involved with Celtic.

Hart pulled off a couple of saves after the second goal but it was hard to get away from the self-inflicted wound coming less than 20 minutes after a brilliant break ended with Jota equalising.

The journey from Midtjylland and Bodo Glimt to Leipzig is impressive but football is emotional with a lot of good work undone by unforced errors last night.

Leipzig had a few early chances, Celtic hit a purple patch between 20 and 30 minutes but 16 seconds after taking a corner Celtic lost the first goal of the game with captain Callum McGregor off injured soon afterwards.

There is little time now for perspective and reflection, on Saturday Celtic are in action away to St Johnstone with RB Leipzig in Glasgow three days later.
