Celtic fans have been warned that no large sized banners will be allowed inside the Bernabeu Stadium next week for the match against Real Madrid.

Wednesday’s Champions League tie will be something of a pilgrimage for fans with supporters able to tick off a visit to the most famous stadium in Europe.

In 2019 around 12,000 fans were in Rome for the victory over Napoli with a similar number expected in Madrid although the official ticket allocation is around 2,000.

Banners from across Scotland, Ireland and Europe can be expected in Madrid next week with fans from Oban to St Pauli regulars on the road at Celtic’s European matches.

Although the match is officially a dead rubber for Celtic, Real are only a point ahead of RB Leipzig and need to win the match to ensure that they finish Group F in top place to be drawn against a runner up in the last 16 draw.
