Celtic have been fined around £14,000 for banners seen on Television at the Champions League tie against Shakhtar Donetsk.

All of the weekend fixtures in Scotland and England had been postponed following the death of the queen with clubs holding a minute of silence before their home European matches in the week that followed.

There was no minute of silence in Warsaw where Shakhtar are playing their Champions League fixtures due to the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Celtic have regularly been in front of UEFA’s Disciplinary Committee over the last few years. There doesn’t seem to be an escalating scale of punishments, just a standard fine based on banners, fireworks or other similar issues.

Tonight Celtic are back on home soil to take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League with 60,000 fans likely to make it an eaferly anticipated clash for viewers across Europe and beyond.
