Celtic look like taking a heavily weakened squad to the Sydney Super Cup matches next month.

Ange Postecoglou returns to Australia for matches against Sydney FC on November 17 and three days later the hoops will face Everton.

In terms of World Cup call ups Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda certain to be in the Japan squad with Reo Hatate a strong contender. Josip Juranovic and Aaron Mooy are key players for Croatia and Australia.

Cameron Carter-Vickers returned to the USA squad at the end of last season with Matt O’Riley pushing for promotion from the Danish u-21 squad.

Ahead of the finals FIFA have approved a batch of friendlies with Scotland away to Turkey on November 16 in what looks like a completely meaningless match that will probably involve Greg Taylor, David Turnbull and Tony Ralston. Those players will miss the match against Sydney FC but could be flown out to face Everton.

Jota‘s call up for the Portugal squad to face Nigeria on November 17 rules him out of the Australian trip while others such as Carl Starfelt could be involved with Sweden away to Mexico on November 16.

On November 20 Greece are away to Hungary in a friendly that is likely to involve Giorgos Giakoumakis which doesn’t leave many regulars available for the two matches in Australia. Similarly Sead Haksabanovic is likely to be involved as Montonegro take on Slovakia and Slovenia on November 17 and 20.
