Joe Hart’s confession

Joe Hart had a confession to make after Celtic lost their first domestic home goal of the season.

Ironically, and at the root of the problem it was one of his team-mates that put the ball past Hart, giving substance to observations that things aren’t quite right in defence at the moment.

There were issues in the goals lost to St Mirren, as well as Don Robertson’s relaxed approach to foul play, yesterday’s indecision between Hart and Josip Juranovic seemed to sum up the current issues.

‘Not perfect but we will always look to improve’ was the verdict from Hart, a Champions League away day in Germany could be unforgiving if the issues continue.

The matches away and home to RB Leipzig will go a long way to deciding Celtic’s fate and measuring their progress in Europe over the last 12 months.

Last year there was an encouraging pair of wins over Ferencvaros followed by losing two late goals in Leverkusen that ended hope of progress in the Europa League.

A year older and wiser, Hart and his team-mates will be firmly in the spotlight on Wednesday night wth no margin for error against a Leipzig team that looks likely to be a vast improvement on the side that lost 4-1 to Shakhtar Donetsk a month ago.
