Euan Anderson has been drafted in to referee today’s St Johnstone v Celtic match with Kevin Clancy initially announced as the match official.
Clancy took charge of the Celtic v Hearts match in August that upset Robbie Neilson when two of his players picked up second yellow cards in the closing minutes.
No explanation or comment has been given for Clancy stepping down, with all SPFL matches already allocated a referee Anderson has been pulled in from the cold for today’s match in Perth. The same assistants and Fourth Official, Gavin Duncan, remain in place for the game.
Last season Anderson, a school teacher from Clydebank, refereed four Celtic home matches and the defeat away to Livingston in September.
This season Anderson has been used very sparingly, taking charge of just five matches including St Johnstone’s opening day SPFL defeat against Hibs that saw Murray Davidson sent off in the 58th minute.
