In the 43rd minute at Tynecastle today VAR got together to get the decision right when Cameron Carter-Vickers tripped Cammy Devlin in the penalty box.

Nick Walsh initially allowed play to continue, he was then informed to stop, after a minute of nothing he checked the monitor, reviewed the contact a few times then pointed to the penalty spot. They got to the right decision eventually.

A few minutes later there was a far more blatant and obvious penalty call. Michael Smith raised his arm to block a cross from James Forrest, the defender’s reaction had guilt written all over it, the players on the park expected a penalty to be awarded.

Walsh didn’t want to give the decision, the ball went out for a throw in as Steven McLean reviewed it. Sky Sports viewers got the re-runs, incredibly McLean decided that his colleague didn’t need to check it on a monitor.

Halsey refereed in the EPL from 1999 to 2013, from 2000 he was on the FIFA list handling international matches.

Nah. Obvious error – no. Arm above shoulder – no. Unnatural position – no. Close – yes. Complain about the referee guidance not the official.

bring in non scottish officals to monitor var our scots refs cant be trusted never will be to staunch to the blue cause so sad only in scotland this is allowed makes a mockery of var which is supposed to correct genuine mistakes by refs just shows how corupt our system is.

  • Justshatered says:

Someone needs to educate Mark Halsey.
After that he’ll understand why it wasn’t given.

  • the maister says:

I don’t think the CCV was a penalty. No foul because the player was in no way in control of the ball and not a foul anywhere else on the pitch. So, really, McLean gave it! The hand ball, not given, was deliberate hand ball and therefore a penalty. Neither Walsh nor McLean gave an obvious deliberate hand-ball! Cheating and vested interests! Don’t think their other was a pen for the same reason. This is the utter nonsense you get when you put expectation onto incompetents and cheats!

  • Steevo says:

Studs up on the follow through and catches vickers. Never a pen. Fckn hand ball pen. Oo Aa fck the Var

  • Scud Missile says:

You would be as well putting BIG BENNY fae Crossroads in charge of VAR with Stevie Wonder his assistant they would both do a better job than those BIGOTED KLOWNS from today.

  • KC67 says:

VAR off to a dreadful start due to the usual suspects. Not giving Celtic that penalty was nothing but cheating, plain and simple. Unfortunately it will be far from the last time until the board speak up. Mind you they’re working hand in hand with their friends from the bigot dome while the Celtic fans are paying to watch a bent competition.

  • Tony B says:

McLean and Walsh both have connections to Ibrox and should be nowhere near a Celtic of sevco game.

That is the problem. They are not impartial and there is no chance of either of them treating Celtic fairly.

  • Scouse bhoy says:

Deserved penalty ? I beg to differ .

  • G420 says:

Does eny one think Abada was in side when pass was played var didn’t heavy? On that one

    • Dora says:

Yes I thought so too but there was no evidence funnily enough…I’m so used to seeing lines in the modern Var era..!!
That was a shambles earlier today but thank Fk Celtic prevailed..

  • Dario says:

Walsh and McLean need to be investigated and suspended as they are corrupt, we all had the heads up that they are biased but this just proves those two in question can’t referee in football again

  • Hazzy says:

I noticed there was encroachment on the first penalty but no order to take that one again why i wonder

  • Michael Conway says:

It was not just the bad decision to not award a penalty Tony ralstons goal was disallowed as was abadas,WHY,we did not even get the var lines when they chopped off abadas, that says it all about that decision

  • Thomas Daly says:

Var makes it easier for the peepl in charge of the match,to try to catch the champions they’ll go to any length to achieve this, all we can do is DONT STOP.

  • James mcgrotty says:

    Get honest people on var

  • Robert Downey says:

I said when it was announced VAR was to come in, if a guy with a whistle can influence a match a guy with a keyboard sure as hell can too, they will use this at every opportunity to favour Rangers and hinder Celtic.

Celtic should have confronted this deliberate bias years ago, but didn’t have the stomach for it, I don’t see anyone at Celtic just now with the stomach for it, other than Ange but it’s not really his place, it should come from the top and I mean the very top.

Dermot Desmond , make a name for yourself.
