Nick Walsh will referee Celtic for the third time this season when he takes charge of Saturday’s match away to Hearts.

The Bearsden based PE teacher took charge of the opening match of the season when the hoops beat Aberdeen 2-0 then the September Glasgow derby.

Sixteen referees have taken charge of Premiership matches but it seems Walsh is a preferred choice for matches involving the SPFL champions

Walsh will have the back up of VAR at Saturday’s match but there is no mention on the SFA website of who will be watching the game from afar. Craig Napier will be the fourth official at Tynecastle as Celtic look to go five points clear at the top of the SPFL Premiership table.

VAR will be used for the first time domestically on Friday night when Kevin Clancy takes the Hibs v St Johnstone match. Don Robertson will referee tomorrow’s League Cup tie away to Motherwell.
