Former Ajax boss Aad de Mos has delivered a scathing verdict on Calvin Bassey.

It is a description that most Scottish fans will be familiar with despite apparently having an outstanding burst of form last season that included Celtic’s win at Ibrox and comic cut defending with Connor Goldson and Allan McGregor at the Europa League Final.

The Sun reports de Mos saying:

Calvin Bassey has no insight, no speed of thought and he gets turned far too easily. He isn’t good enough to compete at this level. There is no aggression in him.

I also can’t believe that Ajax spent that amount of money bringing in a player from the Scottish league.

Other than their opening Champions League match against the Ibrox Tribute Act, Ajax have been taken apart in the group stage fixtures with 10 goals lost home and away against Napoli.

Some Ajax fans are concerned that their clubs recruitment team has been infiltrated by Daily Record readers that listen to Kenny Macintyre and Kenny Miller on Radio Scotland.

De Mos managed Ajax from 1982 to 1985 and also managed Werder Bremen and PSV Eindhoven, CLICK HERE for his Transfermarkt profile.
