Ange Postecoglou will keep a daily watch on Cameron Carter-Vickers as he prepares to face RB Leipzig on Wednesday.

The defender picked up an injury away to Shakhtar Donetsk on September 14 forcing him out of Celtic’s last two matches and an international catch up with the United States.

Carl Starfelt seems to be a few weeks away from returning to action but wth 12 more matches to face before November 12 the Celtic boss can’t afford to take any risks on the fitess of his players.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Postecoglou said:

He got some treatment again and will get some on Sunday and we will see how he is Monday and Tuesday and make a decision.

He is not far away but we have another 12 games in 40-odd days so I am not going to put him in unless he is absolutely right because it would be silly of us to put him in and then lose him for another few games, particularly with Carl out for at least another couple of weeks.

Cam’s pretty good, if he is ready he will play and put his hand up, I don’t need to question that. But we have got to make sure we make the right decision. We will give him every chance.

Giorgos Giakoumakis seems likely to be available but without last season’s central defensive partnership Celtic seem short in that area of the pitch.

Bosun Lawal trained with the first team this week but failed to make the bench against Motherwell with the former Watford defender still to make his first team debut.

Potecoglou isn’t due to give any update until Tuesday’s pre-match media conference.
