Celtic’s B team were involved in a highly entertaining Premier League International Cup tie at Fulham last night, losing out 4-2 at Motspur Park.

The PLIC is designed to give English clubs experience of playing against other clubs with Celtic also facing Blackburn Rovers, Wolves and Leicester City with all matches played in England. Porto, Valencia and Wolfsburg are the other international teams in group A.

Unfortunately the Twitter account for the Celtic B team hasn’t moved since October 14 but the competition is for players aged under 21 but also allows for five overage players. Scott Robertson was on the Celtic bench against RB Leipzig last week and played in the defeat from Fulham.

A detailed match report is included on the Fulham website.

Rocco Vata put Celtic in front on the half hour mark but Fulham levelled through Luke Harris before the break then took the lead in the 47th minute with an own goal.

Adam Brooks got Celtic back on level terms a minute later but on the 70 minute mark Ewan Otoo was sent off for denying a goalscoring opportunity.

Fulham made that advantage tell in the last 10 minutes with Ollie O’Neill and Olly Sanderson both on target.

As well as the experience for the players the match gave Stephen McManus and Darren O’Dea a chance to have a look at Fulham’s best prospects, over the last couple of years Moussa Dembele, Patrick Roberts and Matt O’Riley have all moved from the south London side to Celtic.
