Sky Sports are preparing to axe Graeme Souness at the end of the season.

The former Rangers and Liverpool boss has been seen less frequently this season which explains his appearances on TalkSPORT and column in the Daily Mail.

Souness will be 70 in May with the old school views of a player from the eighties and manager from the nineties carrying less appeal and relevance.

The Sun reports:

Souness has usually signed three-year contract extensions since starting working for Sky.

But according to The Athletic, he was “happy” to pen just a 12-month contract at the end of last season.

They also say that his latest deal was only for a reduced, set number of appearances.

Souness’ dislike of Celtic is well recorded, in his last clash with the hoops his Blackburn Rovers side was soundly beaten home and away in the 2002/03 UEFA Cup.

Rejoining Jim White on TalkSPORT will bring many happy memories for both men even though Souness suddenly walked out of Rangers (IL) towards the end of the 90/91 season.

After leaking this news out Souness might find that his termination date is brought forward.
