‘Statement now or tomorrow’ ‘Sack him and save further humiliation’ ‘Yet another shambles of a performance’ Ibrox fans call for sacking of Dutch flop

Ibrox fans were left with the worst of all worlds after tonight’s 3-0 defeat from Napoli.

Their side’s fifth successive Champions League defeat was a hard watch but the winning margin leaves Giovanni van Bronckhorst in place with his departure simply delayed.

A bizarre team selection allowed Napoli to race into a 2-0 lead after 16 minutes with the real prospect that the 7-1 mauling from Liverpool could be repeated.

Already on an 11 match winning run Napoli switched off with just one more goal from Leo Ostigard for the home fans to celebrate.

With a goal difference of 1-19 and zero points van Bronckhorst can spin tonight as a minor success but the well of goodwill from Seville last season has run dry, losing any more ground to Celtic is likely to be the end of the road for the Dutchman.
