The Glen Kamara Mystery

Glen Kamara appears to be disappearing off the radar at Ibrox.

A year ago he was getting the full moonbeams treatment, signing a new contract despite interest from Juventus and Roma.

The emergence of John Lundstram has created extra competition for places in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s midfield with the former Dundee man finding his playing time under threat.

Kamara started the Champions League qualifier away to PSV Eindhoven but after being hooked off at half-time in the Glasgow derby he has fallen drastically out of favour- on Saturday at Hearts he failed to make the 20 man matchday squad.

Away on international duty last week The Sun picked up on an interview about his current status with Kamara saying:

The head coach decides the team. Whether I’m on the bench or on the pitch, I’ll do my job. I work hard, I just have to keep doing it. That’s the truth.

Sometimes I know why I’m not in the starting line-up. I’ve talked to the manager sometimes after games or before a match.

Of course, it’s difficult to have full confidence when I don’t get to play. I haven’t played in that many games now or started many. It hasn’t been easy.

Kamara is likely to be restored to the bench tomorrow night against Liverpool but there it looks like he’ll have a long wait before he gets to start another match.
