Tom Lawrence is out of action until after the World Cup break.

The Welshman was signed as a free agent in the summer, scored in three successive matches then suffered an injury before the Glasgow derby on September 3.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst expected to have Lawrence in contention for Saturday’s match against Hearts but before facing Liverpool tomorrow night delivered a fresh update on the former Derby County journeyman.

The Sun reports the Ibrox boss saying:

Tom Lawrence’s recovery went on schedule but he sustained a new injury this week. We have to wait to see how long he’ll be out but it will be longer term. Probably more months than weeks. I don’t think we’ll have him back before the World Cup.

John Souttar and Filip Helander are also ruled out until December with Ianis Hagi unlikely to play again this year

Alongside Antonio Colak, Lawrence was the only summer signing to make any impact but with 12 more matches before November 12 the Welshman will be posted missing.
