Ahead of the drama and excitement of a Champions League clash there was a very poignant moment at Celtic Park last night.

Last Friday night the previously barely known village of Creeslough in Donegal was thrust into the news spotlight as an explosion ripped through the garage that was the focal point of the area.

Tragically 10 life’s were lost, all of them from Creeslough with everyone in the village impacted.

Every matchday hundreds of fans make the pilgrimage from Donegal to Celtic Park, down the decades the two way traffic has been legendary with Pat Bonner typical of the interaction between Glasgow and Donegal.

Straight from school he moved from Donegal to Celtic as the last signing made by Jock Stein, over a 17 year period he played in many of Celtic’s biggest triumphs while helping Ireland onto the European and World stage.

For a minute last night the intensity of the Champions League was forgotten as everything was put into perspective for an area that is right at the heart of the Celtic Story.
