Greg Taylor was the reluctant hero of Celtic’s post match celebrations at Tynecastle yesterday.

After a three year wait the defender showed a striker’s instinct to stab the ball into the Hearts net in the 76th minute for the final goal of the game.

Regular scorers James Forrest, Giorgos Giakoumakis and Daizen Maeda had netted earlier in the match but there was only one choice to lead the post match celebrations with the 1,800 away fans at Tynecastle.

Taylor is used to taking a back-seat but after the final whistle yesterday Gioakoumakis was determined that the super sub became centre stage.

After starting against Motherwell on Wednesday night Taylor was among the substitutes yesterday at Tynecastle but in the 66th minute he was sent on to replace Alexandro Bernabei.

Ten minutes later he discovered his goal touch which resulted in Celtic finishing the day four points clear at the top of the SPFL Premiership table.
