Despite the claims of incredible transfer fees the sales of Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey only brought in £19.9m to Ibrox.

With seven players signed for £15m between July 1 and August 31 there is a profit of just under £5m from Ross Wilson’s player trading model.

Wages to Tom Lawrence, Ben Davies and Antonio Colak are likely to be significantly higher than the salaries of Aribo and Bassey who were signed from Charlton Athletic and the Leicester City Development squad.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been evasive about his plans for the January Transfer Window, with the summer profit likely to have been eaten up by wages it looks like whoever is in charge in January will be relying on last minute loan signings to keep the season afloat.

On page 60 of the club account for the year to 30 June 2022 they report:

The Aribo fee from Southampton was widely quoted at £6m which puts the Bassey fee from Ajax at £13.9m, an awful lot less than the Kieran Tierney deal that it was being compared to by BBC Scotland and the other cheerleaders.
