Ally McCoist seems underwhelmed by the likely appointment on Michael Beale as the next Ibrox boss.

After one day of various names being thrown around it seems that the current QPR boss is the preferred choice to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Beale has made a lot of mileage out of being a fantastic coach but after 22 games in management his record is decidedly average.

Won nine, drew five and lost eight is nothing to get over excited about with McCoist lukewarm to the news.

Picking up on his appearance on TalkSPORT this morning, The Express reports McCoist saying:

I think the fact is he probably knows Rangers well after being there with Steven, he knows the city, knows the whole set up, so I would imagine that would come into play in his decision if and when he’s offered the job.

There haven’t been any real clear cut candidates, I think in terms of security I’d probably lean towards Sean [Dyche] to tell you the truth, mainly because of experience but then is it worth taking a gamble?

I’ve heard nothing but good things about him out on the pitch itself. The big plus he’s got is the board know him and the players know him so they’re obviously happy enough with the job that they’ve seen him do.

I’m a little bit surprised, obviously he’s very well thought of, I wasn’t expecting a bigger name but someone with a bit more experience to be honest.

I know he knows the club but at the same time it’s a different kettle of fish managing players at a club like Rangers and it’s very, very early into his management career.

Perhaps Dyche’s salary and transfer budget expectations are a little bit out of reach for Douglas Park to cope with.

      1) Never my first choice.
      2) Needed experience
      3) Managerial record poor.
      4) Panic choice, Mr King had it all sussed.

And the clincher is Beale knows the Lanarkshire Refs are only available in Scotland. Ergo, Level playing field in Engerland v Favourable Ref in SPFL. OMG my win rate will double, sadly his trophy rate will stay the same. 1Cup in 12.

Their board expectations are very very low no decent manager will go there due to their problems with you name it they’ve got , apart from eastenders beale
