Not every part of the Scottish media are drooling over the likely appointment of Michael Beale at Ibrox.

BBC Scotland and the Daily Record can be relied on to bang the drum for anyone in brogues and a blazer but a few more independent thinkers aren’t convinced that the clock can be turned back two years for a repeat of the behind-closed-doors title triumph.

And Beale’s actions over the last month provide further evidence not to believe a word that comes out of his mouth.

Gary Keown called out Beale the vulture in the Daily Mail, another columnist who is certainly no fan of Celtic has similar misgivings about putting a novice in against Ange Postecoglou to stop a second successive hoops title party.

Writing in The Sun, Bill Leckie explains:

MICHAEL BEALE might have to win Rangers’ last 23 league games of the season to rip the flag from Celtic’s grasp.

But here’s the thing. Beale’s managerial career is only 22 games old — and he’s only won nine of those.

So no matter how much of a coaching guru anyone believes him to be, you have to wonder where his credentials are for taking on such a massive job at such a difficult moment.

Feels like appointing him wouldn’t just a huge gamble by the Ibrox board, but an equally big punt by the guy himself as he tries to build a name.

QPR seems more interested in getting the deal done and their compensation cheque banked than Ross Wilson and Stewart Robertson in getting it across the line.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

Leckie is forgetting one key thing though….his win ratio will dramatically increase in a country where the refs give a certain team a wee helping hand when it comes to results…probably why he’s coming back up tbh..
