A report in Brazil claims that Botafogo coach Luis Castro has been contacted about taking over from Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
Despite all of his public flirting Michael Beale doesn’t seem to be in any rush to return to The Lounden Tavern this weekend.
Knowing the problems at the club and the reasons that drove Steven Gerrard away it seems that the current QPR boss has decided to take a step back once the speculation became serious.
Resigning from QPR to take up his dream job is an option but the lure of working with Ross Wilson has put that on hold.

Castro spend his playing days knocking around the lower divisions in Portugal, as a coach he managed Porto’s reserve side from 2014 to 2016 before taking on jobs at and Chaves, Rio Avenue Vitoria Guimaraes.
From 2019 to 2021, effectively the lockdown period the 61-year-old managed Shakhtar Donetsk, in March of this year he signed a two year contract to manage Botafogo.
It seems unlikely that Castro understands the club, the players and the job as well as Beale but he won’t be looking for the same salary as Steven Gerrard was on.
