Rennais have confirmed that they will play a friendly against Celtic on December 10.
Both clubs will be in the Algarve to prepare for the resumption of the domestic season but Celtic have been quiet on details of the trip other than Ange Postecoglou making a few vague references to the visit.
The Algarve and the south of Spain are popular winter training destinations for a variety of clubs, offering good facilities, almost guaranteed dry/sunny weather with plenty of opposing teams around to give an edge to training kickabouts.
Last night the Rennais website announced:
The Rouge & Noir will go to Portugal for a preparation camp in Faro, from December 9 to 16. Two friendly matches are scheduled against two European teams:
Stade Rennais FC / Celtic Football Club on December 10
Stade Rennais FC / Feyenoord Rotterdam on December 16
Yuki Kobayashi could be part of the Celtic squad that travels to Portugal even though the defender can’t be registered until January 2.
After taking part in training sessions in Sydney Celtic will be hoping that Callum McGregor can play at some part against Rennais with his comeback pencilled in for December 17 away to Aberdeen.
