The Ibrox board have started the costly business of dismantling Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s backroom staff.

Ceri Bowlry’s deleted twitter could turn out to be a very costly mistake but the others in van Bronckhorst’s backroom team are keeping quiet as they await a very welcome Christmas bonus.

The Daily Record reports:

Rangers have started the process of dismantling Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s backroom staff. The club are in talks to agree terminations with a number of their coaching staff.

Fellow Dutchmen Dave Vos and Roy Makaay are amongst those who look set to leave Ibrox imminently. Van Bronckhorst took the pair to Ibrox but he left as manager earlier this week on a dramatic Monday.

Goalkeeping coach Colin Stewart continued his role following van Bronckhorst’s arrival. He was promoted from the academy five years ago when Graeme Murty was in charge and continued under Steven Gerrard so Michael Beale, if he is to be the new man, will know all about the 42-year-old’s qualities.

Vos had a job in the Ajax Academy before switching to Ibrox but Makaay had been working on his own brewery since lockdown when he got the call to join up with van Bronckhorst at Ibrox.

Both men will be looking for every penny from their contracts which will be another drain on resources and the transfer budget offered to the next manager to use in January.
