Gordon Duncan of Radio Clyde unexpectedly let the cat out of the bag last night over the controversy surrounding Celtic’s disallowed ‘goal’ at Motherwell on Wednesday night.
Most of the first hour of last night’s edition of Super Scoreboard was taken up by issues from Fir Park, mainly Jota’s disallowed goal and the attack on Carl Starfelt that only resulted in a yellow card for Josh Morris.
Shortly before 7pm last night Duncan introduced a story that had just been published in The Sun that Celtic were writing to the SFA to get clarification on the match, specifically the image used for the VAR decision against Jota.
That story came from David Friel who appears on Super Scoreboard on a Saturday, a reporter well connected to Celtic.
Surprisingly Duncan introduced the prospect of a mechanical error being involved in the Fir Park match, at the time that seemed a far fetched suggestion but later on Thursday The Sun was running with a story that the camera that should have been on Jota was focussed on the dug-out areas.
Mark Wilson joined Duncan on last night’s show with the Twitter account Lint picking up on the discussion.

GD: For instance there is a story there in the Scottish Sun that Celtic are to seek clarification (with great emphasis) from the SFA over Jota’s controversial offside goal. Sunsport understands that Parkhead chiefs have been left bemused, I’ve seen that word a lot, at the VAR angle used, so
MW: Surely that is an easy one to clear up, for the SFA? That they just go, the lines don’t lie, what have we been chatting about? There you go, it’s cleared up. Move on to the next one.
GD: Well maybe not, maybe there was a mechanical flaw
MW (Laughing and surprised) That would be unlucky
GD: You never know
MW: (still surprised) Three weeks in and there’s a mechanical flaw. It has never been known throughout the world but here in Scotland.
