Gies a joab- what is it with the media and Kevin Thomson?

Since the breaking news on Monday morning that Giovanni van Bronckhorst had been sacked it seems that the Sports Desk at BBC Scotland has been in something of a frenzy.

Former Ibrox stars, absolutely anyone that has played for either club is in demand to share their insight over who should get the job of stopping Celtic.

A manager that reached the final of the Europa League and who qualified for the group stage of the Champions League ought to be good enough but slipping further and further behind Celtic just isn’t good enough for those inside Ibrox.

What insight someone with just a single season in charge of Kelty Hearts in the fourth tier of the Scottish game has to offer isn’t quite clear.

With his droning delivery no one can be in any doubt that the three times Hibs player is a real Rainjurz man but that is about it.

Thomson knows nothing about top level management but he is an expert on self promotion although his charm hasn’t rubbed off on any other club after quitting Kelty six months ago. Bo one in football will go near his arrogance and attitude.

Unless there is a role for him in the new Ibrox management team it looks like Thommo is in for a long stint in punditry.

If BBC Scotland need an alternative viewpoint they could always turn to Cowedenbeath boss Maurice Ross for his informed thoughts.
