Giovanni van Bronckhorst has issued a 227 word statement to celebrate his Ibrox pay- off with one phrase standing out.

I faced unique challenges and some very difficult circumstances to operate in.

The rest of the Instagram post consists of the sort of wooly words you’d expect in a Birthday Card.

What the unique circumstances were is open to speculation. Was it trying to get a tune out of Ross Wilson’s signings or bringing in the cash to pay off Sports Direct and loans due to investors?

In January Nathan Starlet Patterson was sold to Everton with Amad Diallo and Aaron Ramsey brought in to the usual fanfare while delivering nothing on the park.

Despite that van Bronckhorst won four knock-out ties in the Europa League to fill the coffers from a trip to Seville where Ramsey’s bottle crashed with the trophy going to Frankfurt

During the summer the club made a £4.9m transfer surplus with van Bronckhorst securing a place in the group stage of the Champions League despite having to pick some of Wilson’s seven summer signings with an over-weight and out of condition Alfredo Morelos making himself unpickable.

In almost the final insult to the Dutchman his chosen successor Micky Beale was given the red carpet treatment before, during and after a home match with Aberdeen.

Ten days after a 1-1 draw at St Mirren van Bronckhorst was sacked, six days later Beale has still to agree a deal to move to Ibrox even though his position at QPR is looking increasingly uncertain.

Will Michael Beale reduce the 9 point gap at the top of the SPFL?

that will be two rangers then the one he played for that no longer exists and the one that sacked him. .

The history books will be kinder to GvB.
He did – surprisingly – get sevco to a European final.
    He did win a cup.
He did secure the financial bonanza of a CL qualification.
He will get another gig in due course.

sevco, meanwhile, will continue to have delusions.

Defeat for sevco 2012 is unacceptable, is that right Gio
That sounds like hubris to me
Hope the next guy in charge feels the same way .
With 7 managers since their inception .
You would think they would be used to defeat by now
