Ange Postecoglou is preparing for another bash at the transfer market.

After three windows in charge his hit rate is phenomenal with the Celtic squad unrecognisable in terms of both quality and depth.

There has been no significant sales since Odsonne Edouard and Ryan Christie left at the end of August 2020 but that aspect could be revived in January and almost certainly in the summer.

Postecoglou came to Celtic as something of a novice but now that he knows the squad that he is working with and the intricacies of the transfer market he is looking forward to kicking on further with last season’s December 31 triple signing of Daizen Maeda, Reo Hatate and Yosuke Ideguchi setting a very high bench mark.

Outlining his intentions, the Celtic boss told The Sun:

There have been a couple of other managers talking about the fact we spend a lot of money in the transfer market. But we have 60,000 people coming to our games every week. They don’t expect their money to be put in my pocket and just sit in the bank somewhere.

My responsibility is to ensure their hard-earned gets invested wisely, so they can be proud of their football team. That is a responsibility.

From the outside sometimes people think, ‘Ah, just spend money’. But there is a massive responsibility there.

Celtic’s Champions League campaign will have boosted revenue by around £30m across all areas and given a raised profile to almost all of the players involved.

With each passing transfer window there is less need to fill the squad with numbers allowing the manager to focus on quality for specifica areas and needs.
