After three days of silence word emerged from Holland today that Giovanni van Bronckhorst has the backing of the Ibrox board.

A year ago Marcel van der Kraan was giving the low-down on moves to appoint Steven Gerrard’s successor, the Dutch reporter seems to be very close to the former Feyenoord player and manager.

If anyone knows what is going on inside Ibrox at the moment it is van der Kraan who reported that van Bronckhorst is now on holiday after returning to the Netherlands following the draw with St Mirren.

There is no sense or urgency despite the five week break that offers the board the ideal opportunity to make a change and get someone new in charge of the club. But working with transfer guru Ross Wilson.

A £4m severance package is a major obstacle to change, it looks like the board will have van Bronckhorst in place at the AGM on December 6 with trips to Aberdeen and Ross County to be faced before Celtic visit Ibrox on January 2.
