Giannis Chorianopoulos has tweeted that a number of clubs are showing interest in Vasilis Barkas.

Celtic paid around £4m to AEK Athens for the goalkeeper in the summer of 2020 but after a disastrous opening season he made just two appearances last season before going on loan to Utrecht in July.

The move to Holland seems to be working out for all parties, with regular first team football the 28-year-old has earned a recall to the Greek international squad.

More importantly for Celtic his Utrecht form looks likely to attract offers in the summer just as he enters the final year of his hoops contract.

On Tuesday morning Chorianopoulos tweeted:

Vasilis Barkas has a really good season at FC Utrecht on loan from Celtic (14 matches/5 clean sheets). Utrecht will like to make the transfer permanent (summer 2023) but also other clubs are keep an eye on Greek GK.

A year ago Barkas was down to third choice keeper at Celtic, behind Joe Hart and Scott Bain with little sign of interest from elsewhere.

Getting out on loan in pre-season and getting regular first team football seems to have restored the keeper to his pre Celtic form.
