The Daily Record is still wondering if it will be ‘that Friday Feeling’ for Michael Beale’s glorious return to Ibrox.

On Saturday morning even the thickest of their readers knows the answer to that question with the ‘race’ to replace Gio now moving at snails pace.

It seems that the underwhelming presence of Stewart Robertson and Ross Wilson is proving to be a game changer but not in the way that had been anticipated. David Martindale is still in stand-by mode.

Up until Monday morning Beale had been screaming out for the Ibrox job, faced with the reality of the gig he seems to be playing hide and seek.

This morning the so-called LIVE BLOG in the Record reports:

Will it be that Friday feeling for Michael Beale?

Well, Record Sport understands the leading candidate remains the top Rangers choice but the Ibrox board have yet to make a formal approach for the man many believe is destined for a return to Glasgow.

And hold on the Beale-emblazoned merchandise just yet! Managing director Stewart Robertson and sporting director Ross Wilson are also weighing up other candidates as their fact-finding mission in London has gone beyond the 42-year-old.

QPR punters appear miffed over Beale’s potential exit weeks after he cited loyalty after turning down English Premier League side Wolves. But the club shared an image of their boss taking training in a move which hints they are doing all they can internally to keep Steven Gerrard’s former No.2 in West London.

Training resumes at Murray Park on Monday, it looks likely that captain Tav will be in charge with van Brockhorst’s backroom staff on gardening leave.
