Matt O’Riley isn’t taking notice of the upheaval or expected noise coming from across the city.

The midfielder has had an incredible 2022 since moving north from MK Dons, playing a key role as Celtic took the SPFL title with a healthy lead already built up in defence of that crown.

With a new manager in place at Ibrox changes are expected with the arrival of Michael Beale expected to deliver the new manager bounce.

Celtic will face that on January 2 but before then they have four SPFL fixtures to deal with as they look to retain their nine point advantage.

Complacency might be an issue at some clubs but with Ange Postecoglou in charge O’Riley had a blunt message to the Daily Record about the c-word being an issue at Celtic Park:

No chance. It’s not going to happen. The consistency and mentality has to be the same every game, regardless of whether it’s a competitive match or even a friendly. So when you transition into a league game, then you’re going to keep that form and momentum.

We are aware it’s a good position to be in. We’re aware of the table But at the same time, we’re not really looking at it. We’re just focusing on our own stuff every day. That sounds a boring answer, I know. But it’s true. There’s a process to it and if we keep following that then I’m sure we will be in a good place.

With Callum McGregor expected back from injury Postecoglou should have some extra midfield options, allowing O’Riley to move into a more advanced role.
