David Munro ensured that the spotlight in the Celtic v Ross County was once again on the match officials.

In midweek David Dickinson on VAR was the centre of attention after he disallowed a ‘goal’ from Jota with the main camera angle unavailable.

Munro was in charge of his fifth Premiership match of the season, his first Celtic Park appointment since last September when Raith Rovers visited in a League Cup tie.

After just 10 minutes today he looked on shaky ground when he decided to award the visitors a free kick when goalkeeper Ross Laidlaw picked the ball up for a second time under pressure from Kyogo Furuhashi.

Should Celtic publish the reply from the SFA over the Jota VAR decision?

At every sign of contact County players hit the ground, almost always they were awarded a free-kick.

According to BBC Scotland Celtic had 75% possession in the match but committed almost three times as many fouls with the free kick count coming in at 14-5. Just four free kicks given against a team that were on the back foot, conceding 75% possession.

Shortly before half-time a Ross County player was given treatment on the pitch then resumed play without having to go off the pitch.

Five minutes into the second half Ross County were awarded a penalty when the ball was played against Matt O’Riley from within a yard at the edge of the penalty box.

The pattern was set on a very frustrating afternoon from the match referee, fortunately goals from David Turnbull and Sead Haksabanovic ensured that the damage from Munro was minimal.

Never seen a ref make up the rules like he did when kyogo committed a foul for going in the vicinity of the gk. Worst ref performance since last week.

  • John S says:

One can tolerate ineptitude, but that refereeing performance today was something else entirely. Fans spent £100,000+ to be cheated of a fair encounter.

  • Frankie says:

They are trying everything within their means to beat us through mind blowing cheating a disgrace.

The game in Scotland is Corrupt beyond belief but as long as our plc pulls in a full house every week, there is no problem as far as they are concerned ££££

“Shortly before half-time a Ross County player was given treatment on the pitch then resumed play without having to go off the pitch.”

He didn’t need to go off because Haksavanovicwas booked for the challenge therefore he didn’t need to go off after treatment.

The strangest one was the non freekicn in the first half when the keeper took the ball in mid air from a cross. He then put the ball down and when Kyogo advanced on him he picked the ball up again.
That should have been a in direct freekick to Celtic seven yards from goal. Instead the referee ambled over and then awarded a freekick to Ross County.
Shameless, and from that point on he made everything up on the hoof.

When your feet are outside the penalty area and your hand is in the box that’s not a Penalty

All excellent comments after an excellent summary from the author; we clearly all witnessed the same things. FN disgraceful doesn’t come close. But, from the 4-2 vs Dun Utd via 2-1 vs M’well and 2-1 today, we took MAXIMUM points. THAT will stick right in all the OBs craws. The lodges will be quiet and looking for someone to blame. If they can’t find a suitable ‘candidate’ they’ll turn on themselves. You could even say they’ll be revolting, but huns do what huns do and huns are ALWAYS revolting.
Brilliant use of the terrific squad he’s assembled. THANK YOU ANGE. Please Stay!
Only our Board can unsettle Ange. Not a good idea.
    Hail! Hail! The Glasgow Celtic.

  • Alfie Bennett says:

Haksabanovich was booked and that meant the Ross County player could stay on. The bigger mystery is why he was booked. He accidentally stepped on the RC player’s foot and was found guilty of foul play. Giamoukis was hit in the mouth “accidentally” by a player who had been booked minutes before but no action was taken.

  • Croftcelt says:

I have checked BBC stats on all Ross County League matches this season. Excluding today’s match, they average 12.5 fouls per game. Their previous lowest foul count in any match was 8. Against Celtic in August, they conceded 10 fouls to Celtic’s 4. Celtic having had 77% of possession on that occasion. Today’s stats are perplexing, particularly when 4 County players were also booked.

  • Joe says:

It would seem that with Celtic winning, despite his very best corrupt efforts, the ref failed to qualify for his SFA bonus.
We have known for years that the SFA and SPFL is steeped in anti-Celtic corruption.
The introduction of VAR was supposed to level the playing field of fairness.
But instead, it is being used as an extra player/team member for the drive to stop Celtic.
    How sad are these cheats?

Good on you Joe for bringing us quality comment.

This cheating by the amateur so-called officials HAS TO STOP. It is disgraceful.

  • Tim Buffy says:

Why do so many officials in charge of top flight Scottish football games these days look like lost schoolboys? And referee them as if they’re still in the playground

  • Pan says:

The County players fell over every time they felt someone’s breath near them. They are a bunch of cheats and use this to make up for their lack of talent. Mackay is a horrible coach who is not interested in football. County will never improve under him.

Meanwhile the Celts showed great character once again in the face of excessive cheating by County players and an extremely incompetent, or possibly bent, referee.

Today’s game was saved by the brilliance and excellent play from Celtic players. Anyone else on that park today should be ashamed, as should the County coach. Playing good football means nothing to them. They are a shambles of a club and simply spoil rather than create anything.

I was proud of my team today as they were head and shoulders above county and a shamefully biased referee. .

  • Mark Tempany says:

The referees and the people in charge of VAR need to be taken to court with the clear evidence of cheating is available and could cost Celtic financially. There is a clear sfa agenda going on if the people orchestrating this despicable behaviour is shown in a court of law, it will make them think twice about their sectarian views. Especially if they risk a criminal record.

Once again the Lanarkshire rangers supporters club tries too influence a result to help their team , you know how good celtic are ? They play against 14 opposition every week ..hail hail..

  • Steve says:

To the guys saying Haksabanovic was booked and that’s why the County player was allowed to stay on the field………according to BBC and FOTMOB app it was Turnbull that was booked at that point so if that’s the case the player should’ve had to go off as Turnbull wasn’t booked for the challenge on him
