Shocking- Neil McCann sends out SPFL title warning

Neil McCann is convinced that a new manager bounce at Ibrox can pile the pressure onto Celtic.

A nine point gap at the top of the Premiership table cost Giovanni van Bronckhorst his job with Michael Beale the favourite to take over from the Dutchman.

While the form at Ibrox has been patchy Celtic have won 14 out of 15, picking up on their form of last season when they won 15 and drew three SPFL matches from the turn of the year.

Whatever happens at Ibrox they will be reliant on Celtic dropping points to get back into the title race with a home win on January 2 essential if there is to be a genuine race for the flag.

On BBC Sportsound Willie Miller claimed that a title win was out of reach for a new manager but McCann takes a very different approach.

Tuning in, the Daily Record reports the former Dundee boss saying:

You’ve got to think about how quickly things can change. Nobody would have seen St Mirren beating Celtic, nobody. You just don’t know how someone is going to come back from a break and what the change in their mindset is going to be.

I think the change in manager; the board have looked at it and said we need to do something. There was a body language issue with the Rangers players. I still don’t believe they have become bad players, and it’s shocking that you can write a league in November.

The reason that the St Mirren result stands out is because it was such a rarity. Over the same 15 match stretch van Bronckhorst’s side lost twice and drew three times.

No one at Celtic has made any predictions or claims about the title race but the bookmakers have  the Ibrox side at 10/1 which is fairly decisive in a two horse race.
